My First Sweater

Ready to jump into the exciting (and addictive!) world of sweater knitting? Or want to brush up those fundamental skills? This 6 week class will walk you from yarn selection to finished garment. Come make a classic crewneck pullover alongside knitting friends and experienced coaching.

Dates: Thursdays, September 24, October 1, 8, 22, 29 & November 5.
A break on October 25th.

Time: 5-7pm

Fee: $180

Instructor: Janell

Materials: Our first class will cover yarn selection, needle size and length, swatching, and choosing your sweater size.

Please bring to class: A copy of the pattern "Simple Sweater" by Tin Can Knits, available for $9 on Ravelry, Any worsted weight yarn you are considering, if you have it (it’s ok if you don’t), size 8 circular needle (any length)

Eventually you will need: Worsted weight yarn in the amount to knit your chosen size Both 16” & 32” circular needles in the size required to get gauge for this pattern, Both 16” & 32” circular needles 2 sizes smaller than your gauge needles (for ribbing), Closed ring stitch markers, darning needle.

Skill level: Students should be comfortable with knitting basics: both knit and purl stitches as well as knitting in the round. My First Sweater Class works best for advanced beginners and beyond who have completed a few other projects.

If you are a newer knitter, you may choose to knit a child-size sweater to keep the homework manageable.

We ask that class fees be paid in advance (thank you!). A full refund will be granted with a 72-hour cancellation notice. Refunds or store credit will be issued if your class is cancelled due to low enrollment (which we hope never happens!).

Materials are not included in classes, but we do offer 10% off.
