Opening Night • Monday, July 6

Our journey begins.

We’ll gather for the inaugural evening of Story & Skein as we open The Name of the Wind together with the Prologue and Chapter One.

To celebrate opening night, we’re pulling out all the stops:

• Live music from 5:00–6:00 PM while everyone settles in
• Complimentary iced spiced chai from one of my favorite local makers
• Homemade cranberry orange mini scones and other seasonal treats
• 20% off all yarn after the first chapter reading
• Founder’s Raffle entries begin
• A few surprises along the way…

Story & Skein is a place to slow down.

Each Monday evening we gather together with our knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, stitching, drawing, or whatever quiet project we’re working on. Then we settle in and let a story unfold one chapter at a time.

This isn’t a book club.

There’s no homework.
No pressure.
No expectation that you’ll be here every week.

Simply come when life gives you room to breathe.

Bring your project.
Bring a friend.
Or simply pull up a chair and listen.

What to Expect

The Inn Opens

5:00–6:00 PM

Come early to browse the shop, settle into your favorite chair, enjoy a treat, discover new yarns, visit with friends, and chat with Ben before the evening’s story begins.

The Tale Unfolds

6:00–8:00 PM

We’ll read one or two chapters together, taking breaks to stretch, refill drinks, admire projects, browse the shop, and continue conversations before returning to the story.

The Name of the Wind

Of all the books I could have chosen to begin Story & Skein, this one was never really in question.

There was a period in my life when I came very close to walking away from music. This book reminded me why art matters, why stories matter, and why it’s worth holding onto the parts of ourselves we love most.

It is filled with music, friendship, humor, beauty, wonder, and hope. More than anything, it’s about losing your way… and finding it again.

In many ways, Story & Skein exists because of this book.

Sharing it with all of you feels like sharing something deeply personal.

And that feels like the perfect place for our journey to begin.
